The Montgomery County Hazardous Materials Team began approximately three years ago with ten charter members. The team is under the direction of the Montgomery County Fire Coordinator, G. King.

The team has since grown in equipment, training, and membership. The team currently consists of thirty-three active members representing many of the volunteer fire departments located in Montgomery County. The team has purchased numerous pieces of equipment, including a truck and trailer filled with the materials needed to confine and contain many different types of spills.

    The team has had a busy start to this new year as they've been toned out to a tanker trailer accident with an uncoupled trailer, and a major Conrail train derailment involving the evacuation of two hundred residents.
